Walk the Chalk, Chalk the Walk

At Celebrate Erie, the tradition of the Chalk Walk started the first time the event changed its name. That first year, my mom and I spent a day and night bent over on the asphalt working on a chalk art, sponsored by the YMCA of Greater Erie (the same sponsors for her Fish).

I have a lot of respect for the chalk walk artists, since I once was in their place. It was definitely an experience I will never forget, and never want to relive again.

Here are some pictures of of this year's State Street art:

Historic Erie (Off to the right is a tan building with green trim. That's Modern Tool. Amy and I toured an apartment there last week, so I had to take a picture.)

Even though I am a proud Behrend Alum and Employee, I had to take a picture of this piece of art. Sponsored by Gannon University, I don't think anyone should disagree with the sentiment: "Believe in the Arts."

I photographed this image mainly because of the sponsor. It was sponsored by Hallman Toyota and I have been working with a salesman there on the purchase of my next vehicle.

Of course, I had to take a picture of this. "It's your world, don't throw it away." This art was sponsored by Erie County Recycling. Ironically, I was wearing one of my "Save the Earth, Please Recycle" t-shirts.

This chalk art replicated The Scream by Edvard Munch. This piece of art happens to be one of my mom's favorites - probably because after raising 2 girls, she felt like screaming twice a day.

"probably because after raising 2 girls, she felt like screaming twice a day."

Knowing you and your sister I'll bet your mom screamed a lot more than twice a day
