I definitely will need to spice this up with some color (and a carpet cleaning). Since I have never owned my own place (or even painted a bedroom), I have no idea how to pick colors, lay drop cloths, tape molding, or paint.Any advice? How do you pick colors (I have a feeling I will just keep picking my fav color in different shades for every room. And I don't want to do that.)? Any painting techniques you have learned?
Also, any Erie, PA carpet cleaners you would recommend?
Also, those window treatments are the best in the house. (When they signed back my original offer, they only changed two things 1) not paying for a home warranty and 2) leaving the window treatments. My realtor laughed when they told her that, because she suggested using the hideous floral drapes in the dining room as a drop cloth!)

Kristen, there are a few DIY home decorating blogs that I love and I think you'll find useful.
The first is http://www.younghouselove.com/ and the other is http://allbowerpower.wordpress.com/
On Young House Love, you can browse many of the mood boards they have created for other people that vary in color and style. There is bound to be something that grabs your attention that you ocan use for inspiration.

GOOD LUCK!
HGTV will quickly become your favorite channel- they have so many great ideas. We painted our living room a toffee brown and painted a teal accent wall and match it with curtains that tie in the brown and teal.
Good luck with painting! It's a pain but so worth it at the end. And congrats! I just bought my first home and it was an amazing experience!!
